Kellys Bake Shoppe

Temperatures here in Toronto are dipping back down to -15 this weekend, but, hey, that feels kinda warm after enduring a deep freeze of -37 not too long ago, doesn’t it? Whether you’re planning to venture outdoors or stay inside this weekend, here’s our latest (and first of 2018) Weekend Must roundup!

What To Eat:

If your new resolution has been to eat healthier but you’re still struggling with a sweet tooth, Kelly’s Bake Shoppe is here to your rescue. Although this popular Burlington-based bakery is always plant-based, gluten-free and vegan, for the month of January they’ve introduced their “Skinny Cupcake” and “Skinny Cookie Sandwich” as two exclusive features that are only available until the 31st! The Skinny Cupcake is a rich vanilla cupcake, sweetened with coconut sugar, topped with a cane-sugar-free chocolate cream cheese buttercream and a light dusting of coconut sugar. The Skinny Cookie Sandwich is made of two Skinny Cookies (their popular cane sugar-free and flourless cookie that’s available all year round) filed with a cane-sugar-free chocolate cream cheese buttercream centre. In case Burlington is too much a trek for you, Kelly’s Bake Shoppe will deliver to Toronto for a $15 flat fee.

What To Make:

Our friends at Prana Organic recently sent us a new year care package filled with packs of their organic Chia and ProactivChia (chia seeds blended with probiotics) and we could’t help but want to share one of their recipes for a delicious chia seed cup that you can easily make at home. Not only are these chia cups decadent and delicious, but they’re mega healthy for you two which is a major WIN in our books! See below for how to make Prana Organic’s Chia-Colate Pudding Recipe:

What You Need:

What To Do:

What To Listen:

sidewalk hustle mix josh mcguirk

New Year’s Day has come and gone, but this epic mix by the ridonculously talented Josh McGuirk (yes, he’s my boyfriend and I’m allowed to say that) made for our friends Sidewalk Hustle is a musical gem that will live on forever. Whatever your plans are this weekend, be sure to have this mix on repeat. Click HERE to listen to it now.

What To Do:

Skating in Toronto just a got a whole lot more interesting thanks to the recent opening of The Bentway Skate Trail located under the Gardiner Expressway right beside the Fort York Visitor Centre. Open hours over the weekend are from 11am to 11pm on Saturdays and 11am to 9pm on Sundays; skate rentals are available on site at $10 a pair. Click HERE for more info.

What To Try:

Although there are a lot of different workouts that we’re obsessed, our latest discovery (and new major obsession) is the Inferno Pilates class at BeHot Yoga Toronto. This HIIT-style workout combines classic pilate moves with cardio in a heavily heated room for a maximum sweat! Available on both Saturday and Sundays, before to book a spot in advance to ensure you can get into this extremely popular class.

What To Buy:

Tickets are on sale now for Calgary-based musician Michael Bernard Fitzgerald‘s Toronto show on January 20th, 2018, at Adelaide Hall. Aside from his indie pop-rock tunes and Nashvillian flair, we also love Michael because he is the founder of TreeEra which is has been dubbed the “Netflix for the environment”. Click HERE for more info on his upcoming how and HERE for more info on TreeEra.
