March Localist Features:
Union Chicken is a new restaurant in Etobicoke that just opened at Sherway Gardens. This restaurant caught my attention because it comes from the team behind The Carbon Bar, which is one of my favourite restaurants in Toronto!
Union Chicken features free range organic rotisserie-roasted and fried chicken raised on family-run farms in Ontario. The menu focuses on simple and bold flavours. It’s ideal for sharing so a perfect spot to go with friends, family, or on a date! In fact I took my boyfriend, Josh, with me to try and it we loved it. For the quality of food you’re getting I think their menu is really affordable. Half an organic rotisserie chicken is $16, the fried chicken sandwich is $13 and most side plates are $8 or $9.

Oh My Cat!
As a total Cat Lady I am personally super excited about the this new shop! Oh My Cat! Is a new online shop that just launched this month. It is a Toronto-based e-shop that features all things cat-themed for both pets and owners. I love all of the fun little toys for the cats, as well as the treats for cat lovers like the fun eye mask and ring dish that I got from the shop. Curently I’m eyeing the make up case! Prices start anywhere from $3.50 for stickers to about $100 for a cat teepee.

These body scrubs are by Island Joy which is a new company from Toronto. I’m just obsessed with the tropical smells of these amazing scrubs, and I think they’re such a nice way for some of us to escape this weather when we can’t actually escape to a warmer place! The scrubs are made with a larger granule sugar because it was a smoother/more rounded edges that aren’t as abrasive on the skin compared to smaller ones. These are currently available for purchase on their website for $29 each and will also be available at The Cure Apothecary on Queen West as of April 1st.

Fortnight Lingerie is a very popular lingerie brand from Toronto — they make beautiful, vintage inspired pieces that are carefully crafted right here in Toronto. As a big fan of what they do I’m super excited about the new SWIM capsule collection that they just launched! This is a 5 piece collection that’s all made from soft and highly opaque, quick-drying Italian jersey.
Just like their lingerie, all of their swim pieces are designed and made in Toronto. I love that these pieces blur the lines between beachwear and outwear so you can get more wear out of each piece. Prices start at $79 for bikini bottoms and go to $229 for the one piece tie back swimsuit.

Judith & Charles Pop Up
Judith and Charles is a great Canadian womenswear brand, and a go-to for many women when it comes to finding great workwear. I love that their pieces are stylish and timeless, and the brand produces 90% of their clothing in Canada which is something they are very proud of. They have recently opened stores in Yorkville Village, Sherway Gardens, and as of last week they have opened up at pop up shop at Yorkdale Mall for six months!
Prices start at about $150 to $250 for tops, $250 to just over $300 for bottoms, and around $500 for jackets. But remember, these are well made and high quality pieces made and designed in Canada that you can invest in and keep forever.
